The Old Observatory Youth Hostel is located in the heart of Qingdaos German old town district, most of the old town heritage sites and attractions are in walking distance. The famous Qingdao beaches can be seen from the hostel, and only takes about 15 mins pleasant walk through the old town alleys, or can be reached easily by bus. Our youth hostel is located in the renovated Qingdao Observatory, originally built by German colonial settlers in 1904, offering splendid views over the bay area and metro skyline.
The management is also travelers who traveled around the world for many years, we converted this amazing heritage site to an ideal establishment for you to discover real Qingdao.
We are the ONLY hostel provides central heating in Qingdao, we guarantee that your room temperature is 20℃ (68℉) and above. We make sure take that you stay in warm in the cold winter.

We have a beautiful park setting in Observatory Park, which is a lovely hill about 70 meters above the sea, taxi could reach to the observatory building directly, or you could take one of the many staircases and walk to the old town in only 3 mins, just consult with our friendly receptionists upon your arrival, you will find that the majority of old town attractions that are listed in your Lonely Planet guide are so close to walk to. Nearby shopping destinations include both shops and department stores along Zhongshan Road, as well as Qingdao's largest open market for seafood, all a five-minute walk from the hostel.

We have installed the latest security technology in our hostel, including IC card locks on all rooms, and free individual lockers in the group dorm rooms. We have staff on desk 24 hours a day, and police routinely patrol
the surrounding area. Guests will feel very safe and secure staying with us!
