Hostelworld.com, the leading provider of online reservations to the budget accommodation sector has launched a map application for its customers. The new feature allows users to plan routes on maps all over the world, add or remove routes, view ratings in chosen locations, make confirmed bookings at hostels of choice and view past and future bookings.
Along with the new map application comes Hostelworld's shortlists. The 'quick compare' button featured on the listing pages allows users to search and filter hostels to find the right one for their stay. The lists allow users to sort by price, rating or name and are located alongside an easy to view map of the city on which each hostel is plotted. Users can delete unsuitable hostels and save favourites so they are left with a manageable handful of choices which can then be printed or emailed onto friends.
Hostelworld's chief marketing officer Niamh Ni Mhir commented "The introduction of our map application and shortlists allow our customers greater flexibility to their travel planning. Backpackers are notorious for changing their travel plans, they meet new people along the way and hear of different places to go - with our map application we give them the flexibility to remove cities, destinations and hostels as plans change and develop. Our shortlists give them the added benefit of creating a handy list of relevant options which can then be emailed to friends and travel companions for consensus".
