We were disappointed to find that the kitchen consisted only of a fridge, microwave, and toaster. The cleaning schedule seems to be inconsistent. The luggage room was kept unlocked all day. The location was good - near the 103st subway station and a few blocks from decent restaurants and a Big Bus Tour stop. There was air conditioning. Everyone in the main area kept to themselves on their phones. It was not the greatest experience, and it was expensive (but maybe not by NYC standards).

This hostel was unique and beautiful. The curtains on each of the beds was a nice touch for some added privacy for travelers. It was easy to get to, and the downstairs cafe/bar was an interesting place for locals and travelers to meet. The staff cleaned common areas every day and were very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

This hostel was 2 metro stops from Alexanderplatz making it easy to get around the city. The in-hostel restaurant had great options and a great breakfast buffet. The lobby layout made it easy for groups to keep to themselves, which made it difficult to meet people as a solo traveler. There was often noise throughout the night coming from the courtyard. The whole bathroom got wet when anyone showered. The beds were comfortable and the lockers were large enough to hold all of my belongings.

As someone traveling alone, I really appreciated the way the lobby is structured. I met several groups of great people during my stay. The proximity to the local tourist office and the central train station made getting around the city and finding interesting things to do very easy. It was also possible to walk from the hostel to the museums, and it was a 20 minute walk to the central square (Marienplatz). The beds were comfortable, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast buffet was great.
