The hostel is a beautiful Regency mansion with stunning grounds overlooking Esthwaite Water. This is a great base to explore the beautiful village of Hawkshead, Beatrix Potters Hill Top, Grizedale Forest and the southern fells.
Family-friendly and in a glorious setting, this grade II listed Regency style building overlooks tranquil Esthwaite Water. Great for walking and cycling, nearby Grizedale Forest also offers some of the countrys best mountain-biking. Explore the surrounding Beatrix Potter country from here too, plus theres easy access to the southern fells and Lake Windermere. Enjoy good food and local ales in the hostels comfortable restaurant.
Our rooms are in two buildings, one of which has 24 hour access once check-in has been completed.

Not the greatest experience as the car was hit while parked on site and who ever hit it simply drove off leaving a long deep wide scratch across two doors and a wheel arch. No cctv cameras on site.
Nothing the staff could do of course, but as it was our last day it left a sour taste on an otherwise nice weekend

Excellent all round and amazing value for money! Just have to make sure you leave time to walk to Hawkshead if catching the bus

YHA Hawkshead is a superb base to begin all your adventures from! The people are polite, the facilities are amazing, and the breakfast is flipping fantastic. The main negatives I had would be the security wasn’t great (no lockers and the room was left unlocked a lot), and the walk into town was a fair distance. However i can confirm that if you’re looking for a nice place to stay and meet some like minded people, this is the place to be! Thanks!
