Beautiful property - reading a book in a hammock surrounded by lush greenery is the highlight here! It is a bit further from town but I don’t think you would find a property like this closer to town. The food is good at Sa Sa Lao so you don’t have to go into the town much. The rooms are quite open to outside so I was worried about insects at first but actually not many insects come inside, and the mosquito net is very good. The staff are lovely and very helpful too.

Stayed at the Sa Sa Lao the location isn’t ideal and quite a far walk to the main downtown area of Luang Prabang. Very minimal options for transportation tuktuk drop off to the city 60,000 kip, rent a scooter for 24hrs for 150,000 kip or walk. The bungalows are natural bamboo structures that are open to the outside. You must feel comfortable with bugs in your accommodation, such as lizards, spiders, ants, and cockroaches. Not many social activities and the place offered little for entertainment.

Overall a really beautiful place, nice dorms and clean bathrooms. Somehow the atmosphere was quite unpleasant though (even the two new volunteers left after two days?!!), as the staff wasn’t welcoming at all, didn’t show us anything around the place and wasn’t really communicative. For some reason they thought I hadn’t payed for my room as I wanted to leave, even though I had payed for it after breakfast, so they basically wanted to make me pay twice until they finally realised that I had actually payed.
