Nordic style rooms and dorms near the center of ReykjavÃk in Laugardalur. Laekur hostel is located in a quiet area by the center of ReykjavÃk city. Only a few steps away from Laugardalur, the green river valley of the city. Our name Laekur refers to Lækur which is a small river or a stream in Icelandic. The Laugardalur area is the ancient geothermal hotspot of the city. A hidden geothermal stream runs under the street outside our house.
We are in one of the most privileged and nicest areas of the city, near to some of the finest landmarks and attractions of the city such as Laugardalsvollur Stadium, The Icelandic Phallological Museum, National Museum of Iceland and Sólfarið - Sun Voyager, amongst other renowned spots of the city.
We have Nordic style rooms for families, couples and individuals as well as dorms for 4-8 persons. Bathrooms and kitchen are shared guest facilities. Free WiFi internet is in every room. In addition, we also have several common areas where the guests and travellers will be able to get together and exchange past experiences and future plans.

The beds were comfy but the pillows were as flat as the Earth. But for about 48 hours there was literally no power in the hostel. I had to use the bathroom and shower in pitch black darkness. Additionally, the cafe staff would not give us the time of the day and refused to acknowledge our needs. Everything was always always dirty and gross, why couldn’t they clean up? I wonder,,,,In conclusion, staying at Laekur was truly a once in a lifetime experience that I will not do again.

The place is super calm and the staff is nice. It’s in a calm area, but it’s around a 40 minute walk to the center and the attractions of Reykjavik. It’s super clean, the showers are very private but there should be stuff to hold your soaps inside! Also the beds are comfortable and there are plugs at every beds. Lockers are free if you have your own padlock. There aren’t many common rooms except the kitchen and one place with sofas so it’s maybe not the best place if you want to meet people!

Check in and check out was easy. Plenty of storage in lockers in the hallway outside of room was very convenient. Facilities were clean. Full kitchen to cook with was very nice. Having a coffee shop and cafe/bar attached made it stress free, and I worked remotely there was good WiFi and a secluded quiet place to work.
