Overall, Selina Chicago is an excellent hotel/boutique hostel. My room and bed were very comfortable, with a reading light, storage cabinet, charging port, and other amenities.
Note to management: please consider removing the manual locks for the shared dorm rooms. My roommates inadvertently locked me out of my room one night and I had to bang on the door to get them to let me in.

Housekeeping was inconsistent to nonexistent. One day our beds were made (why?), other days towels were removed but not replaced.
Reading lights were broken. Sometimes trash was emptied but mostly not.
Kitchen small and inadequate. No recycling or composting.
Temperature was also inconsistent. Stifling in some places.
This is a fairly new convert from a hotel and I think the plan is to continue improving facilities and offerings. Not quite friendly hostel environment we were hoping for.

This is a very quiet and relaxed hostel, great for working and enjoying the space. They have several rooms that are perfect for remote work, including several meeting booths. The only downside it isn’t as social of a hostel since there were no bars or events available.
Overall, the location is great and it is a quick walk to the beach and public transportation. The decorations are great and I would recommend the stay!
