Our lovely building was built in the beginning of the 20th century, witnessing the organic relationship between Athens and neoclassical architecture. The building remained largely unused from 1970 until 2021. Our goal was to keep the neoclassical soul while adding a tropical vibe to it. After a year of renovations, Baloo Hostel opened its doors in the summer of 2022.
We have air-conditioning in all rooms and common areas for those warmer than average days or nights. You will have access card to enter your rooms. You can store your luggage below your beds and use your lock or rent one at the reception.
We offer 4 beds mixed and female dormitory with ensuite bathrooms as well as spacious dormitories that can comfortably accommodate 8 people and one private room for 2 people without ensuite bathroom.
Baloo Hostel Terms & Conditions:
Cancellation policy: 2 days before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.
Check-in
- from 14:00 to 00:00 during High Season (April-October)
- from 14:00 to 21:30 during Low Season (November-March).
Please advise us if you plan to check-in later so we can organise a late check in.
Check-out
- Before 11 am
Payment upon arrival by cash, credit & debit cards.
Taxes included
Linen included
Breakfast and towel not included. You can rent a towel for 1.5 €.

Very clean and I never had to wait for a shower or bathroom. Dorm rooms were private with curtains and I felt at ease even in the mixed dorm. The bar music is loud until it closes but I was able to sleep well with earplugs. Only annoying thing was the closest outlet was nearly under my bed and no outlets in the bathroom for appliances. Definitely recommend if staying in the area.

Easily a perfect ten. Manager gives you a personal tour of the hostel (as of today) which is the first time I have experienced that at a hostel. I love the decor, it is refreshing to be in a hostel that isn’t just sharp edges and bright colors - You can tell that someone decorated this hostel with intention. They have thought of a lot of wonderful details as well (coffee, cereal). Location is a little dodgy but if you grow up, go outside and touch grass you realize the world isn’t perfect.

I only stayed here for one night, but definitely got the vibe it was a very open, social, and beautiful spot. It’s not a “bad†area, but definitely more run down, but as is most of Greece - I was still able to walk around alone as a woman.
The rooms & bathrooms were clean, staff was kind, the courtyard is beautiful, and there was breakfast, tea and coffee in the mornings.
I would stay if I came back!
