Loft opened in 2013 and already made a huge impression. This highly rated hostel was voted The Best HI-Hostel in the world in the year of 2014 and then the Best Hostel in Iceland at the 2015 Hoscars.
Here at Reykjavík - Loft HI Hostel, we combine Scandi-chic and eco-credentials with a warm Icelandic welcome. Join us on the rooftop terrace for beers in summer and Northern Lights in winter. And while you're here, take part in our regular free events. We've got everything from karaoke and movie nights to art markets and concerts, with a spot of arts and crafts in the middle. Making use of our fully equipped kitchen is a smart way to save your cash for seeing all the island's best sights, too.
Location
Arriving from the airport's super simple: buses are scheduled to match flight arrival times, so jump on and tell the driver where you want to go. Our hostel sits on the main shopping street so souvenirs or an inviting coffee are only a few steps away. Hallgrímskirkja (Reykjavik Cathedral) is a 5-minute walk, as is the dramatic Harpa concert hall. If you've come to Iceland for the hot springs, buy a bus transfer when you book your entrance ticket and they'll pick you up.
Rooms and Dorms
Beds and bunks in our dorms and private rooms alike come with free linen. Both room types also have en-suite bathrooms and lockers (bring your own lock or buy one from us at reception). We have female-only dorms and a personalized code for entrance throughout the hostel.
Extras and activities
Chilly out? Snuggle up in our cosy common room over a board game with your mates or hunker down with a book from our exchange. If you're after something more lively, check out our on-site bar. Happy hour's from 4pm to 8pm daily, and we don't think you'll find a more globally diverse place to drink beer in all of Reykjavik. The bar and cafe have free Wi-Fi (as does the whole hostel), so you can update your blog or video chat with friends at home over a few warm lattes or cold local craft beers.
The hostel team is happy to give local recommendations for services, restaurants, and attractions. We'll point you in the right direction for trips such as the Golden Circle, the Blue Lagoon, horseback riding, whale watching, and other adventurous activities. We recommend you arrange tours before traveling to Iceland. This can help you avoid being disappointed when you arrive and learn that tours are fully booked, which is common during the busy summer months. We look forward to welcoming you.
*Please note that charges will be in the property's local currency (ISK). The displayed amount (in EUR or other currency) is indicative, based on the exchange rate at the time of booking. Currency fluctuations may result in a higher or lower final charge when converted to euros or other currency.
