Located within the famous Golden Circle sightseeing trail, Héradsskólinn Historic Guesthouse overlooks Lake Laugarvatn, Hekla Volcano, and the Eyjafjallajökull Glacier. A bistro, café, and bar are found on site. WiFi is free.
Set in a 1920s former school building, Héradsskolinn offers both private rooms and dorms. All rooms feature bright décor, lake- or mountain views, and access to a pool table and TV lounge. Guests can choose between rooms with private or shared bathrooms.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be enjoyed at Héradsskolinn’s bistro. Guests can enjoy a drink in the bar or relax in the library.
Thingvellir National Park and the famous Geysir Hot Spring are within 16 mi. Gullfoss Waterfall is 24 mi away. Laugarvatn Geothermal Bath is right next to the guest house.

ホテル内は清潔でした。部屋、トイレ、シャワー室、ラウンジ、食堂、どこも広々としていて使いやすかったです。スタッフの方の対応もすごく良くて、居心地の良いホステルでした。洗濯機がなかったのは残念ですが、ドライヤーをデポジットなしで借りられるのは嬉しかったです。立地と建物の雰囲気も良く、同じ場所に宿泊する際はまた利用したいです。ベッドの寝心地も良かったです。かけ布団のレンタルと食事の利用が必要だった（シーズンオフでスーパーマーケットの閉店時間が早かったため）のは痛かったけど、直前でも利用させてもらえたのでありがたかったです。

Strangest thing. The hostel blocks Netflix. If you use a vpn, you can get around the block but they block Netflix on their WiFi network.

This is an old boarding school that's been transformed into a guesthouse. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the common spaces are full of old furniture, photographs, and loads of charm. The view of the lake is also stunning. They do make you take off your shoes at the door, which wasn't a problem for me, but seemed to be an issue for some other travelers. Slippers are provided if you'd like to borrow a pair. I had both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were quite good.
