Samesun at San Francisco is just a short walk from Fisherman's Wharf, home to our resident sea lion population and Pier 39. Sample some world-famous sourdough bread and fresh seafood, then hop on a cable car to Union Square. Walk back through Chinatown, visiting the home of the fortune cookie and continuing into North Beach, San Francisco's Little Italy, and the home of the Beat Generation. Just 4 (very steep!) blocks away from the hostel lie the twists and turns of Lombard Street. The Palace of Fine Arts and Golden Gate Bridge are visible from our balcony rooms, so long as the San Francisco fog isn't blocking the view.
Don't forget the colorful murals and taquerias of the Mission District or the shops and bars in the Castro, one of the first gay neighborhoods in the US. Wherever you wander in San Francisco's 7 x 7 square miles, just remember to bring a jacket for ever-changing weather!
Our hostel has spacious dorm and private rooms feature ensuite bathrooms, many with balconies. A rarity in San Francisco, Samesun SF offers free parking in our two on-site garages on a first come, first serve basis for guests.

Samesun San Francisco Conditions and Policies:
Cancellation policy: 1 day (24h) before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.
Check in from 15:00 to 23:00. All guests must be 18+ and have a valid government-issued photo ID.
Check out before 11:00 AM.
24-hour reception.
A valid government photo ID and credit card in your name must be presented upon check in (you can pay with a debit or credit card, but a credit card will be required to keep on file for incidentals).
Payment upon arrival by credit or debit cards only, we are a cashless property. The hostel may pre-authorize your card before your arrival.
All bookings of 6+ people or 7+ nights may be charged a first-night deposit.
Sorry, but no San Francisco locals are allowed to stay with us.
We do not allow pets or emotional support animals. Valid service animals are welcome.

We do not accept customers younger than 18 years of age, even if a private room is booked.

This review is for when I stayed in a 6 bed female room with an ensuite. The room was spacious and I loved the blockout curtains for each bed. The air conditioning helped warm up a cold night. The staff were friendly and the location was perfect. The following things I didn't like. There is only a microwave and fridge (which is full) in the kitchen, the luggage room was locked but luggage wasn't tagged, our toilet didn't flush properly, one pillow which was very thin and the balcony was dirty.

Had a really lovely stay at Samesun after a few really exhausting travel days. The front desk staff is GREAT! I had several interactions with them over the couple of days I stayed, and they were SO helpful, kind, & professional every time. I stayed over a weekend (in a private room) & felt it was calm/quiet. There is some street noise from cars mostly, but far enough from bars/restaurants that it’s not constant noise from people. The location is GREAT. It’s in a very safe, quieter part of the city, but very near Fisherman’s Wharf, Ft Mason (gorgeous park with amazing views of The Bay & Golden Gate Bridge), & plenty of other awesome sites readily accessible + the location is within steps to public transit (multiple bus lines) that will take you wherever you need to go. Note: as with anywhere in San Francisco, you will notice some unhoused people around the intersection where Samesun is located, but I never felt unsafe + Samesun definitely has measures in place to ensure only guests are entering the hostel. The only thing I would call out is that if you’re looking for a social atmosphere to meet others, just know that the common space here is small/more of a lobby, with only a very basic microwave/fridge setup for the kitchen. There are plenty of events & gatherings planned outside of the hostel however, & people do still gather in the common space.
