Praia das Macas (Apple Beach) is known for its golden sands and the mouth of the river that gives it its name. It is said that in the autumn the river used to transport many apples from the farms it crossed to the sand, giving the beach its name.

The WOT Sintra Ocean Hotel located in Praia das Maças, has an extensive sandy beach, providing the practice of beach sports, which is very popular with fans of water sports such as bodyboarding and surfing. Around the sandy beach, with about 250 meters, there are several shops, from restaurants to cafés and bars, as well as local handicraft shops.

Next to the beach, there is a saltwater swimming pool, a children's playground, and a picnic area. At the ends of the beach, either on the left or right side, there are rocky outcrops where you can fish with some stability.
Apart from the beach, one of the attractions of this area is the famous tram ride. The route starts in the Estefania area, near the Sintra Museum of Modern Art, goes through Colares, and ends by the sea, at Praia das Macas (Apple Beach). Azenhas do Mar beach is a 20-minute walk or 4 minutes by car. Take the opportunity to visit the town of Sintra, 20 minutes away by car, you will find Monserrate Park and Palace, Moorish Castle, Sintra National Palace, Pena National Park and Palace, Chalet and Garden of the Countess d'Edla, Vila Sassetti.

The Hotel comprises a common lounge and breakfast room, 24-hour reception every day, and a small interior courtyard.
