Corcovado Foundation BioHostel & Environmental Center is a unique and off-the-beaten track hostel in Costa Rica’s remote Osa Peninsula, offering affordable lodging and food, genuine community-based tourism activities, and a rustic jungle setting in the quiet village of El Progreso, Drake Bay.
All income generated by the hostel goes directly into funding the environmental projects of the Corcovado Foundation! Book now to help protect nature!
We have a bar and restaurant onsite with vegan and vegetarian options as well as a yoga deck overlooking the river. We offer free rides in our Land Rover from the Drake Bay airport and pickups from the beach.
Please note:
There is no ATM machine in Drake Bay, so please bring enough cash with you for your stay. Although we can accept credit cards for your accommodation and some tours.
The guest can cancel free of charge until 1 day before arrival. The guest will be charged the first night if they cancel within 1 day before arrival.
Corcovado Foundation BioHostel & Environmental Center is located 6kms outside of the largest town in Drake Bay (Agujitas) and 20 minutes walk from a pristine Pacific beach. Our village, called El Progreso, is much smaller and more remote than the main tourist area. However, we offer all the same tours as you will find in other hotels and often have taxi for $15 available to and from the main town.

This hostel might be a good option for those willing to stay away from the outer world. Otherwise the location is so far that it cut you from any activities happening in drake bay. The hostel is charging $20 per taxi ride to go there.
The free bikes are good to go to the nearest beach 3 km away from the hostel.
The remote location unfortunately doesn’t avoid the noise coming from the neighbors: dogs barking and loud music.

I was disappointed with the kitchen facilities. Guests were apparently expected to pay for prepared meals. Otherwise, average. Also, this place geared for students under 40. The survey does not allow me to put in an age over 40!

Note: This hostel is in a rural location, some previous reviewers might not have realised that when they booked. There is a small shop a 5 mins walk from the hostel for snacks and basic essentials, everything else a car ride. I received a very warm welcome from the staff and volunteers at Corcovado Foundation, everyone was really friendly and helpful, and I loved my stay there. The facilities are basic but well maintained and very clean. The dinners are simple but delicious and filling!
